(un)Healthy Living

29 Sep

I got my cook and bake on last week trying a couple new recipes I had been lusting after awhile.  Things that wouldn’t ordinarily appear in my life.  Things that I only deem acceptable on vacation.  Which I was not on.  Not really.  Especially for this first one here.

Nutella Crescent Rolls compliments of Cupcake Rehab. This was the easiest, most delicious dessert I have ever made.  Nutella combined with the buttery goodness of a crescent roll?  Sign me up, please.

Ranch Mac n Cheese from All the Small Stuff
This was actually my first time ever making mac n cheese that didn’t come out of a blue box.  Although I love my Velveeta shells and cheese more than words, this stuff was freakin’ delicioso.  And super easy to make.  I definitely recommend it if you are in need of a new side item, and I also think it could make a great main course if you threw in some chopped chicken.

Ultimate Chocolate Chip, Oreo & Brownie Ridiculousness from Kevin & Amanda
Oh.  My.  God.

This was blowin’ up all over Pinterest a couple weeks ago and I knew I had to make it in the near future.  I’m going to say it again – This was soooo easy.  I went the lazy route and bought the cookie dough mix you add water and eggs too so I mean easy when I say easy.  This stuff is a crowd pleaser and is so rich you won’t want more than an itty bitty square.

Does that count as portion control?

Target Tuesday: Successorize

27 Sep

Its Target Tuesday!

This week I am all about the fall accessories.  Let’s get started shall we?

Women’s Merona® Kasia Tall Genuine Leather Boots – Cognac

I have not yet jumped on the riding boots train, but I think these would be a good stepping stone.  I could try them out before investing in a really good pair.

Xhilaration® Menswear Trilby with Self Band – Black

I’m not normally a fedora kind of girl, but this has a bow on it so I’m willing to attempt to work it out.

Xhilaration® Animal Ombre Scarf – Purple

This scarf would be fab with my gray Target v-neck pocket tee.  Or my purple one.  Or my black one.  Or my white one.

Xhilaration Juniors Full Tights – Rose

Black dress over pink tights?  Yes please!

Xhilaration® Panda Hat – White

The Panda is my sorority mascot.  I just had to.

Race Review: Beach-Palooza

27 Sep

This past weekend I headed down to Galveston with some party peeps to do our first ever Beach-Palooza.  I already discussed my love of mud runs so I was pumped and ready to try one out sea (or gulf) side in the sand.

We got to the the race site around 10am, an hour before our 11am wave time.  Packet pick up was a breeze and the gear check was super organized and quick.  We had plenty of time to get psyched up for race time.

We started promptly at 11 and hit the sand runnin’.  The first half of the race was all running, with the one and only water stop being at the half way point.  Once the obstacles started, we jumped over walls, dashed through webs, fought ginormous beach balls, climbed a giant rope wall, crawled through sand pits, jumped over fire and swam through a freezing cold pool.

Confession:  I’m a spaz with a fear of falling skipped the terrifying balance beam and the obstacle where you had to jump from pod to pod.  I’ll work on that.

We received awesome pineapple medals at the finish which we had to show off immediately.

All I do is win, win, win no matter what.

Our resident superheroes totally rocked it.
My attempt at the Footloose dance ended terribly.  With me, in the sand.  Oops.

Random dude is totally judging us.  Like whoa.
No, I’m not pregnant, I blame Mike’s Hard Lemonade.

Speaking of, once we tired of throwing back Mike’s Hard Lemonades, we headed back to our sweet weekend crib and enjoyed some post race fuel.
My first cheese in a can experiment since the 90s went splendidly.  Like riding a bike.  A delicious fake cheddar flavored bike.

It was really hard to decide what video we all wanted to watch.  Its a tough call between WWF and awesome cartoons.

Aren’t these houses gorgeous?  I totally live in the wrong neighborhood, y’all.

23 Sep

Or eat me.  I’m done.

Holla from H-Tizzle,  y’all!

I’m here for the day then heading to Galveston this evening.

Tomorrow is BeachPalooza!  So I am pumped about that.  Also,  I haven’t been to Galveston since I was sixteen, so I’m stoked to see it and how much it has changed over the years.

Happy Friday!

Too much?

21 Sep

Its been awhile, and there are some (un)important things to discuss.

Like if you think this is ‘too much’.

Didn’t think so.

Yesterday I set off on one of my most heinous runs ever.  I was due for 5.5 miles of ‘long’ runnin’ this week and for some unknown reason attempted to do this out of doors at 1:30pm.  Since running has become a regular part of my routine again I’ve stuck to ye olde treadmill with the exception of this race.  And while I do enjoy the occasional challenge, running a PRnRPDR (Post Rock n Roll Personal Distance Record, dude) in the heat of the day was not exactly on my to do list.

Things got real sweaty real fast.

I have mad crazy respect for those of you running crazy marathon training miles right now.  You ladies are amazing!

In other exciting news, I tried La Croix for the first time and kinda fell in love with it.  I got the coconut flavor and now I’m hellbent on trying them all.

I’m guest room crashing right now and am earning my keep by cooking.  Thus far, no one has been poisoned . Cross your fingers it stays that way.

Orangest plate ever?  Maybe.

Also, these were made last night and were eaten too quickly to be photographed.  Make them immediately they are ridiculously tasty.  While they are absolutely horrible for you, I’d say they are beyond worth the calories.

Another one bites the dust

19 Sep

ACL is over and I am sporting a major sad face.  I’m already ready for 2012.

There was rain and shine.  Purple Margaritas and squeeze bottles full of wine.  Queso and some truffled mac and cheese.  Angry and mellow bands.  Kanye West and Jack Ingram.  Friendship bracelets and bamboo sticks.  And not nearly enough photos taken to capture it all.

And this is pretty much how I feel right now.

And now, back to reality.

Last Week:
Monday: Run
Tuesday: Body Pump
Wednesday: Run
Thursday: Training Sesh Off
Friday: Off – Austin Round 2

Can I count miles of biking to and from the festival and all the walking as my workouts?  Kind of a stretch, no?
