Vegas, Baby! Day 1

20 Jul

Man, am I behind on recapping my great American Road Trip/ Vegas Adventure.  Once we got to Vegas the time just started flying.  I don’t know if it was the over stimulizing city atmosphere or the fact that we had already been gone so long.  Sadly to say we didn’t take quite as many pics in Vegas as we did on the road.

We crashed at the Golden Nugget our first night in Vegas.  I had never been nor stayed downtown before so it was great to see that part of the city.  After a ridiculous brunch buffet and a quick visit to their fabulous (and filled with little kiddos) pool we headed to our new digs on The Strip.  The Cosmopolitan.  My new most favoritest hotel in all the land.

We took our time getting settled in and enjoying our not so shabby view of the Bellagio fountain.  We ventured out for a little lunch and some shopping and maybe a cocktail or 7.

I headed off to see the one and only Her Fabulousness Celine Dion and proceeded to tear my feet to shreds on the walk from The Cosmo to Caesars.  I left my friends getting ready and was all set to meet them for dinner.

Being the diva that she is, Miss Dion’s show ran a little longer than what I had read, so I was running late.  Then I had to wait in the monstrosity of the cab line, and then finally I arrived, almost an hour late.  And the restaurant had a strict policy of not seating incomplete parties.  Oops, my bad.  Blame Canada.

We ate at Battista’s Hole in the Wall which I rate a 9 on the Ehhhh to Mehhhh scale.  It was just a’ight.  My least favorite meal of the trip next to my McDonald’s Chicken McGrill at the Grand Canyon (Fun Fact:  That is the 2nd most expensive McDonald’s in the world, 2nd only to Tokyo, wtf?!).

Our last stop of the night was the hot spot at our hotel, Marquee.  Thanks to our winks and smiles we got in right away.  I’m not really a ‘clubbin’ kinda girl, but this place was awesome.  Great music (house, naturally), pretty people, and awesome ambience.  I was sold.

It didn’t hurt that we were quickly escorted into some VIP area to hang out with randoms and drink their bottle service.  Free booze?  If you insist.

Clubbing is so much more fun when you don’t have to pay for $15 cocktails.  Do you know how many Miller Lites that could buy me in Dallas?!

I’m not big on clubbing either but something about Vegas MAKES you a clubber while you’re there. I dance on tables in Vegas. Do I dance on tables in Orlando? NO.

I’d love to see Bette Midler out there. Ever since Beaches, I’m all infatuated with her.

I saw Bette’s show in Vegas a couple years ago, it was awesome! Before it starts there were half naked men walking around you could take your pictures with. Bette knows what her fans like.

Fun trip! Yeah free bottle service is always okay in my book, not that I’ve ever experienced that…
