What to wear to Ke$ha

29 Apr

As I jet out of town, I likely won’t much or at all while I’m away.  I’m not planning on taking my laptop and may not be smart enough to work the wordpress app on le iPhone.

Let me leave you with this… my dream outfit for the Ke$ha show.  Just keeping it classy!

Have an amazing weekend folks!  See you on the other side with lots of good stories!

Outfit of the Week: Beale Street

28 Apr

I’m flying up to OKC tonight so I can road trip to Memphis with two of my favorites.  We are heading to the Beale Street Musical Festival to see the likes of Ke$ha, Ludacris, Stone Temple Pilots, Mumford & Sons, The Avett Brothers, Cake, Everclear (what up middle school?!), Wilco, John Mellencamp, Cee Lo Green… really I could go on, but you get the picture.

Its going to be awesome.

I bought the below dress with Memphis in May in mind.  Unfortunately its not going to be as warm there as I had hoped so I will likely be sporting my white denim jacket, but that’s okay!

Memphis in May - Day

The sunglasses are total wishful thinking.  Based on my last visit to this festival, I’m more likely to be sporting my rain boots than my sandls, I guess that’s just part of the fun!

Weight Loss Challenge Week 4

28 Apr

I can’t believe its the 4th week of the Jiggle Challenge!  Where is my life going?

Weight Loss Challenge

If  I had to grade myself on this week I’d take an A for my workouts and a B+ for my eating.  I’ve had a couple splurges this week (tortilla chips , mom’s banana pudding and skinny mojitos), but I’ve kept my calories on this side of awesome.

I can’t wait to read everyone’s progress today, its one of the most motivating parts of my week.

We got this!

The Hills

28 Apr

I wish i was talking about the fabulous LC and Lo but unfortunately my adventures today including hill repeat drills and not gossiping about Heidi and Spencer.

Now you know how I really feel.

I’m attempting to get back into a running groove, slowly but surely.  I have my two 5ks coming up and I would like to kick some booty for at least one of them.  Thus my need to work in some speed and hill work into my training plan.  Somehow I talked my BFF into joining me for the fun.

I got in my car after work today and headed for Flag Pole Hill Park, outfitted with my water bottle and a measuring cup full of grapes.

I’m not really sure why I looked so angry, I really enjoyed my grapes, they were an excellent snack in rush hour traffic.

I got their first so I figured self portraits were the perfect way to waste some time until my BFF arrived.  Check out our hill…

It doesn’t look like much but I swear it was steep.  This has to be one of the steepest hills in Big D, love the prairieland!  If I were a smarter person I would have taken a photo at the bottom.  Oops.

We ran up and down the hill six times and it was on the verge of brutal.  I’d like to add one or two more rounds each time I go back.  I intend to become BFFs with Flag Pole Hill over the next few months.

Embrace the hills, love the hills, become the hills.

Victory was so ours you guys.

We were stavin’ like whoa after that so we met up with our other bestie for some deliciousness at Fuzzy’s Tacos.  They have the best queso, I could eat it like soup.

For dessert… mini gummy bears!  Aren’t they precious?!

Five for Wednesday

27 Apr

Good morning, friends!  This Wednesday is really my Thursday, heck yes for being halfway there.

Let’s get to the musings, mmkay?

1.  I couldn’t make myself get up for spin this morning but I did muster up the energy for 20 torturous minutes on the elliptical.  My body so hates to move in the morning its ridiculous.  20 minutes on the elliptical = I get to watch last night’s Glee and Biggest Loser from the comfort of my couch this morning.  Yay!

2.  What is up with this guy’s hair?

He was interviewed on a Lifetime Royal Wedding special comparing Kate Middleton with Princess Diana.  I have no idea what he said because I was so distracted by his hair.  I’m amazed, impressed but most of all confused.  What product does one use to accomplish that?  All I can think of is There’s Something About Mary.

3.  Am I the only one who specially set my DVR to record Dancing With the Stars last night to capture the performance of NKOTBSB?

Be still my heart.  Nick Carter and Jordan Knight sang a verse together and I thought my heart was going to ‘splode.  All of my childhood and teenage dreams right in front of me.  If you’re wondering if I’m going to their show you’re silly, of course I am.  Dallas.  And Vegas!

4.  How cute is this little gift from one of my also obsessed with everything royal wedding friends?

She made this flag out of glitter cardstock and ribbon.  So cute!  Evidently the company that makes the cookies will do all the pastries like things for the wedding.  I plan on snacking on them during my road trip since I won’t be able to watch the wedding live.

5.  Speaking of the royal wedding, after hanging out with a few other royal wedding obsessed ladies I learned about all the programming I’ve been missing.  Apparently TLC and BBC America (duh, why did I not think of that?) have been airing specials constantly.  Thank the lord for DVR.  I will have no less than 48 hours of television to watch when I return from Memphis.  Time to make BFFs with my couch.

I miss my dog.

26 Apr

I do.  I miss her.

I’m heading out of town for the weekend so she’s staying at my parents’ (aka Camp Nana Papa).  Logistically it was easier for everyone for me to leave her there yesterday instead of meeting up with them later this week.

So I am puppy-less this week.  And my house is sad.  And quiet.  And cleaner.  Girl is always leaving her toys everywhere (I have no idea where she gets that from).

All this while she is getting spoiled and fat and playing with her BFF Cousin Bella.  Bella & Stella.  You can’t make that up.  I know girl does not miss me at all, in fact she’s probably down right in heaven right now.

Cowbow Chow Down

26 Apr

To celebrate my big brother’s big 3-5 birthday this weekend, the fam headed out to Cowboy Chow in Roanoke.  They are owned by the same folks as Twisted Root and are equally delicious.

I seriously would have eaten anything on this menu.  Everything looked that good.  Yum.  Must go back.

I got down to business documenting our trip there.

Pretty sure he’s making fun of me.  Gawwwd I need a tan.

We ordered some of their Navajo Fry Bread (served with black bean dip and clover honey) and a round of their Fried Green Tomato Lollipops.  Yep you read that right.

I tried to talk everyone into just ordering one of everything on the menu, but they didn’t seem as into the ideas as I was.

Cast Iron Chicken Pot Pie

Tater Parfait (brisket layered with mashed potatoes, gravy, and other yummies)

The Cowboy Grilled Cheese.  Brisket.  Cheddar.  Cramy Horseradish Sauce.  Homemade Chips?  What weight loss challenge?  I washed this down with a Bloody Maria, a Bloody Mary with tequila instead of vodka!

There were also ribs, chicken fried steak, and regular grilled cheeses for the little ones.

If you’re in the mood for some down home flavor (I’m never not in the mood for that) I highly recommend Cowboy Chow.  You can enjoy their oh so tasty, not at all healthy dishes in a legit western atmosphere.  In addition to Roanoke you can also find them in Deep Ellum, they are located next to Twisted Root in both locations.

Happy Nom-ing.
